MUSEEN AUF DER PLASSENBURG

6 th Kulmbach Autumn of Art

Hans Stößlein

For the 6th time, the city of Kulmbach will be commemorating past artists who had a particular connection to Kulmbach with an exhibition.

This year, the focus is on Hans Stößlein (1920-1995), who also went by the name “Franken Hans”. He was known far and wide as a teacher, painter, graphic artist, historian and writer.

After the war he worked as a teacher in various schools in Kulmbach. In 1959 he started working in foreign schools and moved with his family to Argentina until 1964. Back in Kulmbach, he took on numerous cultural roles, including cultural advisor to the city. His dedication earned him a number of awards and in 1986 he was presented with the Frankenwürfel.

Along with the works of Hans Stößlein, other Kulmbach artists are also represented, such as Hans Georg Lewerenz, Caspar Walter Rauh, Egon Engelien, Georg Schmidt or Erich Hiemisch.

The exhibition will be held in the Gro?e Hofstube of Plassenburg Castle from 29th September until 3rd November 2013.
